Dental crown came off after a month?

My front tooth broke into half a couple of months ago and i went to a dental surgery, D.J.CRees and Associates in stonehouse to have a dental crown inserted.I paid 380 quid and they fitted a temporary crown and told me to come back after 2 weeks and have the permanent one done. After only 3 days ,the temporary crown came off and i went to the dentist after the 2 weeks were up. To my dissapointment , the told me they had lost something they needed to make the crown so i had to wait 2 more weeks. They fitted another temporary one and it fell off after 4 days when i was eating a banana. They rang me up 3 days later and told me my crown was ready. They fitted it and told me it will last 20+ years but a month later, today. it just came off. My question is, am i entitled to a free treated since it came off in just a short time. If not what type of dental cement can i get and were from. Any advice will be appreciated

Dental crown came off after a month?
Write a letter to your dentist and make a copy for your files. In your letter, make it clear that you are not happy. Detail all of the events you just wrote in you on-line letter. Make it clear that you want the crown to be cemented on and that it is to stay on or you will retain a lawyer and sue for damages. If you win your case, select a different dentist to make and cement your new crown. For now I will assume that he did not file down your tooth so much that NO dentist could make a crown that will stay on!!! Make it clear that you will report the dentist to his professional college (the institute that licenses him) if he is unsuccessful at making a crown that is both esthetic and STAYS ON. The college will perform an investigation of his practice to see if there are similar issues with his work, and, they will investigate your case. If found guilty, they can order him to take courses, fine him, suspend him or revoke his license.

Keep a journal of all of your correspondences with your dentist, written and verbal, past, present and future. Document the dates of all discussions and correspondences. The more detailed your notes, the easier it is for your lawyer to formulate and win your case. The more detailed your notes, the easier it is to convince the college that they need to intervene. DON'T be afraid to persue this! Don't let your dentist intimidate you.
Reply:tell them your gonna get a new dentist %26amp; you want some /most of your $ back!
Reply:Yes you are definitely entitled to new dental work FREE! if they don't do this, they are not a good dentist. They obviously did shoddy work the 1st time around, so I suggest after this next treatment you find a new dentist! If you have insurance, contact your company %26amp; let them know whats going on.
Reply:yes the cement they use is very cheap. and no you cant buy your own if you paid $ for your crown and it did not hold you should ask them to recement it again at no charge and make sure you tell them how unhappy you are and NEVER pay again for it to be recemented sorry for grammer
Reply:OK, temporaries break and fall off all the time.

as for losing the "something" (probably the impression!) well, it's not super professional, but mistakes happen - no real harm done.

as for the permanent crown coming off.... hm. check these things. put the crown back on your tooth. Is your bite "normal" feeling? does is "snap" floss when you floss through? it should allow floss through, but w/ slight resistance. when it's down all the way, do you notice ledges around the edges of it? it shoudl be flush w/ the tooth.

Basically, within say maybe 5 years, I will always recement a crown for free. (if it's one i did!) I'm responsible for it. I have about 3 different kinds of cements, and there's a "super hardcore" one that I only use for situations where I've recemented a couple times. they should have this or something like it.

before you get it recemented, you MAY want to take it to another dentist and say, "hey does this look ok to you?" if the first doctors DID do shoddy work, it will be pretty apparent, tho' not too many docs will talk trash about colleagues, even there's obviously crappy work. Anyway, if the 2nd doc says, "Hmm, you need to get this re-done..." be sure to ask why. Then you can take it back to the first office and say, "you can either re-do this for free (but you probbaly wouldn't want them to) or give me my quid back." (i like to say "quid" - not too m any opportunities here in NEW england in US... :)

it may be simply using a new cement - would give current docs benefit of the doubt for a LITTLE longer, tho' it does seem to be a little on the "doubtful" side.

cheers, mate!
Reply:yes, you are entitled to free treatment..... the crown should not have come out

possibly there is not enough tooth structure left for the crown to adhere to.... and a post might be needed to hold the tooth in place..

call so it can be fixed ASAP.....
