How much should a dental Crown cost? Did I get ripped off?

I was charged $1,350 EACH for two porcelain crowns that I just had put in. They were done by a general dentist. Was I ripped off? I really feel like I was. I'm trying to do some research and figure out if I should be going to a different dentist who doesn't charge as much, because this is just ridiculous.

We charge $886 (porcelain fused to non-precious metal crown), so your fee would have been $1772, minus a 10% discount since you don't have insurance...
Reply:In my office crowns are 595$ each- but you travel 2 hours and raise the price by 2-300$ Dental work is still relatively inexpensive in Utah and many other areas of the US. Report It

Reply:i paid 3,000 each, so you got lucky
Reply:that's what mine cost without dental insurance....if you have dental insurance they would've paid for half..
Reply:Yes you should research. Your dentist charged that rate and got away with it. But, you CAN find lower rates. Rates in my plan average from 350.00-15,000 or so.
Reply:you were ripped off
Reply:THE COST OF DENTISTRY IS SUBJECTIVE.

PRICES VARY GREATLY. IF THESE CROWNS ALSO NEEDED POSTS, IT WOULD ADD TO THE COST.

JUST REMEMBER, YOU USUALLY GET THAT YOU PAY FOR. ;-) NEVER BE SAD THAT YOU INVESTED IN YOUR HEALTH.
Reply:Sounds pretty close to normal to me.
