Dental crown pain.?
I agree with Dr. Mike. Have your DDS check the bite first, also you may have something stuck in the gum area, or if the contacts between the crowns are not nice and tight, food can get wedged in between the teeth causing the sudden sensitivity that you speak of. Have your dentist look at all the possibilities and take the least invasive first. Yes, it could mean the tooth/teeth need root canal, but check out ALL the other possibilities first. Good luck
Reply:Lingering pain could be a problem, and usually is. There could be many causes ranging from needing your bite adjusted, to a possible root canal, with several possibilities in between. You need to call your dentist and make an appointment. They will be able to get to the bottom of this for you. Don't wait however, mild pain can go to severe pain quickly in dentistry. Good luck!!
Reply:Try tapping on the tooth that hurts with something hard. (Gently please, a light tap will do.) Does that cause pain? The sensitivity to heat makes me wonder if you might have a abscess. You might want to have your dentist check it. Especially if the tap test hurts.
Reply:Good answer , Dr. Mike!
