Can dental disclosing solution/tablets permanently stain dental work such as braces, crowns, veneers, etc?
Can dental disclosing solution permanently stain dental work?
Disclosing solution is used to dye plaque (bacterial colonies and food debris) on the teeth thereby showing patients where they are missing removing the plaque. Disclosing solution will not permanently stain dental work, especially porcelain veneers and crowns or metals such as braces. The only thing I would worry about are composite fillings. Composite fillings or white fillings leak fluid at their margins and they absorb many staining compounds in our foods. Certainly I would not be too concerned about infrequent use of the disclosing solution, but if you use it often, I might watch the white fillings very closely.
