What would you do? dental question wisdom teeth and crowns on other teeth.?

Ok so my back, bottom, left tooth was root canalled about a year ago, the didn't put a crown on because i've got a wisdom tooth coming in underneath it and it would just cause problems. So now my wisom teeth are ready to come out, wouldn't it be easier to have them pull the tooth that was root canalled and get out the wisdom tooth and just forget about the crown? It sounds more cost effective for sure the crown and procedure for the crown are 1200 bucks!! and a tooth extraction is less than half of that. What would you do?

Reply:Yes, you could do this and it may be a good consideration if they root canaled tooth is not in good shape. However, if the root canaled tooth is in good shape, you may want to keep it and have it crowned b/c having it out a letting the wisdom tooth come in may leave you with a crooked tooth and off bite. See, the wisdom tooth may not come in perfectly straight, in fact, depending on how it is coming in it may never erupt at all. If it does come in after having this other pulled, it may never come all the way in or it may be tilted and your bite may get thrown off. This can cause TMJ problems.
Reply:wisdom teeth dnt provide any function they ar elike show pieces but the rest of the teeth have specific functions if you wnat to get the r.c.t treated tooth to be extracted then dnt you think the function will be compromised
