Can people buy porcelain crowns from dental labs and not be a dentist?

No, Porcelain crowns are made from an impression that a dentist takes after a tooth is prepared to accept a crown.

Why would you want to do that??? You need a dentist to take the impressions of your mouth so the dental lab will be able to create the crown to make it fit correctly.
Reply:You can even get crowns and dentures from Mortuary for less than half price and then take it for adjustments only thus save hundreds of dollars.

You will be surprised how many items mortuaries sell.
Reply:yes!

but for what purpose?
Reply:No. Crowns are prescribed from a dental lab just like medicine is prescribed from a pharmacy. Only a licensed dentist can legally fill out the prescription.
Reply:No you can not do that. Every time I fill out a lab prescription form, I am to include my dental license number. If you are not a dentist, they can not make if for you. If you need crowns as examples for a school demonstrations or such, talk to your dentist, and I am sure they could have a few made for you.
