Yes, the length of time they stay on varies from dentist to dentist and patient to patient. We have one patient with a bridge that has been for over fourty years. In the last 5 years of our practice we have seen two of the crown we place fall off.
Retention of a crown has to do with the hand skill of the dentist. The quality of the cement he uses. The quality of the lab they use (Discounts lead to poor quality labs) The hygiene and amount of new decay the patient allows to happen.
Other factors like bite and grinding should be taken into account by the dentist before charging the patient for something that will not last. I can't believe there are so many people willing to pay and repay again for something every 6 years. I guess you can get fooled again.
Does dental caps,or crowns, ever fall out?
They can. If they do you have to go back to the dentist and get new ones put on.
Reply:Yes, its usually after quite some time. Don't be worried
Reply:Yes, they do. But the dentist can put them back in place.
Reply:yes they can, I have two on my two front teeth. and they come of every 6 years approxiamtely. no biggie I just go to the dentist for new ones
Reply:They can, but you would probably notice that they are feeling loose before they actually fall right out. So, you could just go to your dentist and have them fix it.
Reply:yes they can, if yours has fallen out go to your dentist ASAP.
Reply:With time they can.
Reply:They can fall off but it usually takes a while, if ever. My husband had a crown in the back come off. He simply saved it, took it to the dentist, and they glued it back on. He hasn't had problems since!!
Reply:i, personally, have had 2 caps, they have fallen out before. once they were crowned, i haven't had them fall out. crowns are permanent, as opposed to caps.
Reply:if you are not careful and dont watch what you eat, than there is a possibility that they will fall out
Reply:they will get used to it...
Reply:Yes. I would not worry about it.
Reply:The can and do come off or fall out. However, you can approach your dentist like it was a warranty situation. What happened to me was the dentist submitted the cost to the insurance company. The insurance company paid their portion and the dentist absorbed what would have been my share!
Reply:Rarely. If they do you can have them reglued by the dentist. If you lose them you'll have to have them replaced.
Reply:they might don't wiggle them.
Reply:yep - they do if you grind your teeth at night. I had about $4000 worth of work done and now I have to have it re-done because I grind my teeth at night.
