Dental Bonding?

Can dental bonding be used instead of crowning/root canal on the groove of molar teeth to solved toothache caused by cracked molar tooth?

Dental Bonding?
If you have cracked your molar tooth to the point where it is causing need for a root canal, bonding will probably not solve the problem. The reason is that when you take out the nerve of the tooth it no longer gets blood supply and the tooth is likely to become brittle and therefore breakable. For that reason it is recommended that a crown be put over the tooth to cover it and hold it together. The Dr. might be able to do the root canal and then do the bonding or an amalgam filling (silver), but it may not last very long. You also take the risk of breaking the whole tooth off and then needing the extraction. If you were my family I would say root canal then crown. Hope that helps!

Reply:No, bonding is a cosmetic procedure and will not solve a crown or root canal problem.
