Anyone from dentist industry please help(root canal and crown)!!!?

I went to a dentist today regarding my broken teeth(top center two front teeth). I lost lost of teeth structure especially in the front surface I think. The dentist said he can go with veneers or crown but maybe crown will be strong in this case but he needs remove some teeth structure from the back. He also mention maybe need to do root canal treatment. I asked him if he will know if there's root canal from test or xrays and he said it's highly unlikey I need it but maybe during the treatment during preparation I may have rool canal as he test if I'm sentive to cold, etc.

Will xray tell if I have root canal? But he just looked at the xray and he didn't mention I've root canal. He sounds rite?

Also is crown a better choice? I just think if he remove even more teeth than my front teeth will be very thin, short and it will be break very easy? He also mentioned that US dental association say crown last 6-8 or more years. Maybe front teeth crown won't last long?

all the things that your dentist has said about crowns are exactly correct.

all the teeth have root canals.but in some occasions root canals and teeth pulp become infected and dentists need to remove it.

if I were you I choose composit or porcelain veneers they need a little tooth preparation (0.3 -0.5 mm) and also strong enough if you dont bite any thing very hard(not as strong as crowns). and the chance of pulp exposure is very very low.
Reply:A root canal is a procedure where they remove the nerve from the tooth if it's damaged/dead. An xray would show the nerves condition.

I'm not a dentist, but I can give you this much info from listening to my dentist when I had a root canal done.
