That is true. It does vary, Just about every office is different. I would encourage you to Check out this website.

I signed up with them online over 2 years ago for all my dentistry work. They have helped me save thousands of dollars from extractions, root canals, cleanings. I know for a fact that all services are included especially orthodontics and crowns are in the benefits. They had my membership active in 2 hours and was able to use the same day. Also with my membership, they sent me a book with all the prices to the dentist office on all procedures and services, so I will never have a surprise when I get there. I am very thankful that I found them. Check to see if they are in your area.

Good Luck. Hope this helps
Reply:there is only one type of crown- all of them are expensive and insurance usually covers about 1/2 of it- so if its like $1400, insurance will cover $700- which sucks but that is why it is important to go to dentist 2 times a year, get a cleaning, and always floss....so your dental problems dont lead to a crown.
Reply:A good dentist will give you a choice of porciline, gold, or enamel I think the enamel is cheapest.
Reply:There's no such thing as an enamel crown...

They can be all porcelain (cerec), porcelain fused to metal, or all metal. With tooth #12, you may want to get one that's porcelain fused to metal.

As far as the fees go, call around to get different quotes. Our office charges $886 for one.

Good luck!
Reply:Unfortunately it is quite expensive to get any dental work done. Do you have insurance? I know that we had to pay around $1300 for my ex to have his done. We owned our own business and didn't have insurance at the time. Then, just a week or so after he had his done, a friend of ours told us about something that she had %26amp; it only cost her like $500-550. If you'd like, let me know and I will get the info for you to look into it as well. Not sure if it will work for you, or if you qualify, but no harm in trying.

Either way, good luck. I hope that you can get something done. Also, if you do not have insurance, ask about a discount for paying cash. Sometimes dentists will give you a reduced rate for cash paying customers. Again, no harm in trying.
Reply:There are 3 options:

1. porcelain - this is the best esthetically but can be a problem if the bite is too hard or on the wrong place on the crown...it could break

2. porcelain fused to metal. This has a metal core with porcelain bonded onto it. This is the crown for the places where the porcelain is not strong enough. Because it has metal underneath, there can be aesthetic problems...not enough translucency for example

3. CEREC crown. These are nice because they can be placed the same day the tooth is prepared. There is a little problem with translucence and so the aesthetics can be difficult to match.

There are some other systems which are variations of these, but these are the main groups.

If it was for my wife, I most certainly would go with all porcelain because of the potential of excellent aesthetics.

Also, check around about prices and discounts, it never hurts to ask.
