Were dental tooth crowns available on the nhs in 1980?

i had my two front teath extracted in 1981 but was not offerred crowns but had to have a plate made

Were dental tooth crowns available on the nhs in 1980?
Yes. I had NHS crowns before then. I seem to remember having had to pay towards the cost but that's just how it works for most of us. If the teeth had to be extracted, then there would be nothing left to crown so maybe crowns were not possible.





If you want an alternative to your plate, implants might be an option if you can afford them.
Reply:Yes they did your Dentist was just out of order by not telling you of your options!, but like the guy above me has said you may have had to contribute towards the cost, as the NHS needs to approve certain procedures.
