WHAT CAN I DO? I CAN'T AFFORD TO FLY BACK. SHOULD I CALL AN ATTOURNEY?
Dental crown came out and I swallowed it.It's under warranty but I moved 3000 miles, and dentist wont call back
If your dentist gave you the model of the tooth, with the prep on it, and it's intact not broken from your move, you can have a new crown made from it and only have a cementation charge with a new dentist and lab charge which would be considerably less. You are probably going to have an out of pocket expense of a little less than $200.00 but it's better than the legal course, which would involve time to resolve and in the meantime you are without a crown.
As Someone below has suggested, you can try to "find" it when it re-appears. I've only had one patient who went fishing and playing with the "mud pies" in hopes of finding it, she did, and brought it in for us to re-cement again.
Additional information: Crown's don't really come with a "warranty" most will last for many years although some will last as little as five years; based on the patients ability to maintain good hygiene. Any earlier than the five year area is grey; we may, or may not, re-make the crown based on the "why's" that caused it to fail. If it's your fault, due to decay, then no. If it's the labs fault that caused the porcelain to fracture, then we will re-make it at no charge to you in a limited time frame and only if you didn't cause the damage, such as from eating ice. Hope this helps you.
Reply:Sure, I would love to hear what they have to say LOL!
Logically....wait for it to come out....gross yes, but crowns are expensive. Get it professionally cleaned and have it put back on.
An attorney isn't going to do anything but laugh. I have had my crown come off three times.....At first I blamed the dentist but then I figured out it was from me clenching my teeth at night that was making it come off.
Good luck, that sucks!
