There usually isn't that much of a price difference. Our office charges $795 for a full gold crown and for a Porcelain fused to metal crown and then we charge $850 for an all porcelain crown.
What are the average costs of gold dental crowns vs. porcelain dental crowns?
It will vary depending on the lab and the price of gold. Since there is usually some gold in porcelain fused to metal, that price might fluxuate as well.
All porcelain (or some of the new materials using zerconium) can run around $1000 each, PFM and gold somewhat less.
There can be quite a difference in quality between a high-end lab and a cheap one. I've seen some really terrible crowns made in Mexico and overseas. You never know what you are going to get unless you go to a trusted dentist who knows his or her lab.
